Frequently asked questions

Hearing protection is available everywhere and otoplastics are fairly easy to obtain. But good hearing protection is not enough. Because: are you wearing the right hearing protection? Who checks whether the earplugs fit properly in your ear canal? And how do you ensure awareness and support among employees in the case of harmful noise? At Ronell we look at the work situation. This way, hearing protection is used much more effectively. That is why one of our hearing advisors always comes to see you. He or she takes a good look at the work situation and gives advice tailored to your situation. Thus, all employees are effectively protected. Moreover, the hearing advisor will deliver the otoplastics themselves. They provide instructions on how to wear it and check its operation. Unlike other suppliers, you can now be sure that employees are really well protected. We also visit you free of charge and without obligation if you have questions. This keeps the threshold low to take good care of your hearing.

Ask people who wear otoplastics themselves. They'll all say the same thing: they fit perfectly. Because the earplugs are completely tuned to your ears, you won't be bothered by them. So unlike other hearing protection, it is very comfortable to wear. In addition, the lifespan is long, which means that the costs are favourable in the long term.

  1. Our hearing advisor will visit you to assess the situation. They take the sound values from your RI&E or measure the decibels per workplace themselves. This way, they know which filter should be used. Employees are also fitted with hearing protection. This involves making a mould of their ear canal.
  2. The moulds are taken to the laboratory by our advisor. A 3D scanner is used to make a digital copy of the mould. The lab staff design this copy into a final product after which it is manufactured with a 3D printer. Then the final product is finished with details. For example, a handle or detection ball are added. A sound channel with filter is also added.

  3. Our hearing advisor will visit you to personally deliver the otoplastics. They provide instructions for wearing the otoplasty and check that the otoplastics do not let sound through.

  4. The otoplastic is ready for use! If you have any questions, the hearing advisor will visit you free of charge.

This depends on a number of factors. Which hearing protection is best for you depends on the noise situation and specific wishes:

  • What are the volumes you work in?
  • How much do you wear the hearing protection?
  • Is it for permanent employees or flexible employees? flexmedewerkers?
  • Do you work in the food industry?
  • Do you need to communicate with colleagues a lot?

It is best to answer this question together with one of our hearing advisors. Every environment and situation is different and requires different properties from the hearing protection. They are personally tailored and therefore fit perfectly in your ears.

Hearing protection is mandatory when the average volume is 85 decibels or higher. Above 80 decibels, employees are entitled to have their employer provide them with hearing protection. Make sure that the hearing protection filters well! Some types of hearing protection may not be adequate for very loud sounds.

In addition to supplying hearing protection, we help companies to become aware of the risks. Many employees suffer from hearing loss. And that's a shame, because it's often easy to prevent. Therefore we provide lots of toolboxes/courses at different companies. These toolboxes are a good addition to an SCC programme.

When you wear hearing protection, you will always hear sound. Sound can still enter through your skull or bone conduits. Your skull transmits the vibrations of sound to the hearing organ. The body/skull works as a sound box. Through all surfaces, it can vibrate through your bones to your hearing organ. In addition, it would be unsafe to hear nothing at all. You need your hearing to be aware of risks. You should especially still be able to hear alarms and horns. This is why we have designed the sound filters in such a way that loud noise is attenuated, but these warning sounds can still be heard.

On average, we see that our hearing protection lasts between 5 and 7 years. After that time, the material may not be worn out, but the fit will no longer be sufficient. Ronell believes it is important that employees are properly protected. That's why we offer a free annual leak test. This prevents false security. We only replace the hearing protection when necessary. This means: no standard replacements after two years, which would unintentionally leave you with high costs. We first check if the otoplastics still seal well and if the fit is still good.

  • Put the earplugs in front of you. Red is for right and blue is for left.
  • The cord can be twisted onto the clip and then clicked into place.
  • Now you can attach the clip to your collar. This way you can never drop the otoplastics.
  • Now take the hearing protector by the handle between your thumb and index finger. The serial number should be facing away from you.
  • Hold the earplug upright and insert it into your ear. If necessary, twist the otoplastic a little so that it sits a little deeper.
  • Are you suffering from friction from the cord? Then wear it over your ears.
  • To remove otoplastics: grab them with your thumb and index finger and twist them slightly. Now you can take them out easily.

Proper maintenance ensures that your otoplastics will last for years. Please follow the steps below:

  • Regularly inspect the otoplastics for dirt. So you can be sure that your ears remain well protected.
  • When you take the otoplastics out at the end of your working day, clean them immediately with a clean and dry cloth.
  • Use your cerumen pen to clean the narrow filter channel.
  • Did you clean everything well? Spray your otoplastics with the cleaning spray or clean it with the tissues supplied.

At least once every two weeks, you should clean the otoplastics more thoroughly:

  • For this we offer cleaning tablets, so that dust and dirt in the small corners are removed.
  • Put one tablet with some lukewarm water in the tray. Put the otoplastics in the strainer and place it in the tray. Leave the filters in the otoplastics during cleaning.
  • After a few hours of bubbling, your otoplastics are as good as new.
  • Make sure otoplastics are dry when you use them. Use the air blower to blow the filter and channel dry. Make sure your filter stays in place.
