Technique
The sound carrier does not sit on the ears, so that these can remain protected. Ultrasonic vibrations direct the sound through the hearing protector.

The strap that runs behind the head allows the headset speaker drivers to press lightly against the jawbone. This slight pressure is sufficient to transmit the vibrations from the speaker drivers to the jawbone. The jawbone ensures that the sound reaches the ossicles: sound is, after all, vibration.
